In the second have you tried to brose the USB disk before launching the application (Or disable the sleeping mode on the USB disk). Do you start Deluge at boot or as an regular application after the boot? In the first case my bet will be a USB disk not yet reachable when the service start.
Its a big file about 16gb, but I've downloaded bigger before and had no problems. utorrent-server, for some reason, wasnt downloading nor uploading despite the confirmed open port. I use BitTorrent on all my other OSs, but Deluge presented the most problems, for me.
